May 2011
Join world renowned wolf biologist Dr. Doug Smith
for a 3 day/ 2 night Wolf Discovery Safari. Enjoy and learn about Yellowstone’s wolves and wolves in general from one of the world’s top wolf experts. This safari will be for those that wish to learn more about Yellowstone’s top predator, and how they co-exist with all the other residents, including man, in the Greater Yellowstone Eco-system.
The safari will consist of two days (Saturday & Sunday) of in-the –field wolf observations and possible field trips to the original Rose Creek acclimation pen (from the ‘95 & ‘96 re-introduction), un-used wolf dens, wolf killed carcasses and areas that have been affected by the presence of the wolf. Complimenting the in-the –field portion of this safari will be two afternoons and evenings (Friday & Saturday) of lectures and audio visual presentations by Doug Smith. During one of the evenings, a film presentation by Emmy Award winner, wildlife cinematographer Bob Landis will be shown.
The Wolf Discovery safari includes two nights’ lodgings in Gardiner, Montana at the Absaroka Lodge, all meals (2 dinners, 2 lunches, 2 breakfasts), snacks, hot & cold beverages, park entrance fees, transportation in custom vehicles, use of binoculars and spotting scopes (if you have your own, bring them) and the services of Dr. Doug Smith and Carl Swoboda (Director of Operations, Safari Yellowstone).
