Since 1993, Safari Yellowstone has been leading safaris through the Yellowstone and Grand Teton areas and was designed for those who love the outdoors and the adventures it provides. Carl Swoboda, Director of Safari Yellowstone, has been a professional naturalist for over 20 years. After spending a considerable amount of time as operations director for one of the largest photo safari companies in the Serengeti National Park of Tanzania, Africa, he decided to offer safaris here in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. From the custom safari vehicles, to the naturalist/biologist guides and their interpretations of the natural and cultural history, Carl has made sure that the safaris that are offered are unique, memorable and rewarding. His knowledge of the area allows the photographer to be in the right place at the right time for the perfect photo.

Carl's professional background and experience includes working with the Forest Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service. As a smoke jumper with the Forest Service, his expert knowledge of fire management helps guests understand the effects of Yellowstone's great fire of 1988. With the Fish and Wildlife Service, he was a member of an elite anti-poaching law enforcement unit, concentrating on large predators and their prey. His knowledge allows guests a better insight on the wildlife of this region and how important predators, large and small are to the ecosystem. All trips are led by Carl or one of the company's professional naturalist/biologist guides.

Touring Vehicles  top

Our safaris use custom designed 4 wheel drive GMC Suburbans, Yukon XLs, and Savana vans. In keeping with our company being designed similar to African safaris, some of our vehicles are equipped with unique large roof hatches for the ultimate, unobstructed wildlife and scenery viewing experience.

In complete safety and comfort, we are able to allow guests a better viewing experience. Each vehicle is stocked with a cooler of beverages to ensure a refreshing drink whenever a guest wishes, as well as hot drinks when guests need something to warm themselves up. We also carry binoculars, spotting scopes and field guides for the guests to use for the duration of the safari. Guests are asked to refrain from smoking in our vehicles.

Group Size  top

Small private safaris assure guests personal service and enhances their enjoyment and experience of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. We also have the capability to cater to larger groups as well. When this occurs, we use our custom Savana vans.
