LakeYellowstone & Grand Canyon Snowcoach Safaris
Travel to the largest alpine lake in North America, Lake Yellowstone. Departing from Mammoth Hot Springs, the quietest gateway to Yellowstone’s “Winter Wonderland”, this safari takes you deeper into the heart of Yellowstone, with stops at the spectacular wonders of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, home to the awe inspiring Upper and Lower Falls. Witness the 109 ft Upper Falls and the 308 ft Lower Falls, both encased in ice and snow, as if they were frozen in time.
We follow the park’s namesake, the Yellowstone River through the expansive Hayden Valley, where we watch for trumpeter swans and frolicking otters alongside its frozen shoreline and bison busting their way through chest deep snow. Explore the unusual thermals of Mud Volcano and Dragon’s Mouth Spring, as we continue our unique journey via our comfortable and warm snowcoaches to our ultimate destination, Lake Yellowstone. After lunch alongside the shores of this vast frozen body of water, we travel back to our departure site keeping a watchful eye for the diverse and abundant wildlife that makes this area their home; bison (buffalo), elk, coyotes, wolves and a variety of birds from Canada geese to bald eagles. This safari is for those that wish to explore a region of Yellowstone few snowcoach visitors get to experience.
All snowcoach tours are provided by Yellowstone Year-Round Safaris, a Yellowstone National Park authorized concessionaire.
